Region 2 Updates

SAVE THE DATE: Performant’s next RAC provider outreach presentation is scheduled for Monday, June 17th from 12:00PM – 1:00 PM EST for the providers in Novitas jurisdictions. Performant will be providing an overview of the RAC program and detailed information over the course of 3 sessions that will assist providers with navigating the RAC process.

Session 2 will give a brief review of the topics covered in Session 1 and Session 2 will provide a detailed overview of Review Results Letter, the Discussion Period and esMD.

On March 24, 2022, CMS awarded Performant Recovery, Inc., the new Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) Region 2 contract. RAC Region 2 includes the following Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) jurisdictions: J5, J6, and JH.

Cotiviti, LLC, the RAC previously responsible for reviews in Region 2, remains under contract with CMS to support the RAC Program from an administrative and appeals perspective in this region. Please contact Cotiviti in regards to reviews conducted by Cotiviti. All notification of improper payments, including review results letters (complex reviews), informational letters (automated reviews) and no findings letters (complex reviews) were completed by Cotiviti, in Region 2, on or before Friday, September 16, 2022.

Performant anticipates to begin reviews in the Spring (2023). RAC Region 2 providers can rely on the review completion date specified in the review results letter, as well as the RAC’s name on the letter, to identify which contractor to reach for inquiries. If Performant receives inquiries in regards to reviews conducted by Cotiviti, Performant customer service will inform providers to reach out to Cotiviti and vice versa.

Contract Key Personnel

Umadevi Vootukuri

Program Director

Umadevi Vootukuri is the Program Director for Region 2. She brings in 25 years of success in leading all phases of large scale diverse projects and programs. She has a strong track record of managing timely, complete, and accurate project deliverables as it relates to adherence to policy, regulatory compliance, contracts and statements of work. She holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Masters in Computer Applications. Uma played key role in leading the RAC contract implementation since the inception of the Region A contract award in 2009. She has acquired extensive knowledge of the RAC program which is instrumental for continuous and successful execution and operation of the contracts since 2009. Also, she closely worked with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) to standardize file interfaces between RACs and MACs. Overall, Uma is responsible to ensure the execution of the Region 1 RAC contract meets CMS requirements and good working relationships with CMS, CMS contractors, providers and all other stakeholders.

Dr. Robert Glenn

Contract Medical Director, Region 2

Dr. Robert Glenn serves as the Contract Medical Director for the Region 2 Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) at Performant. He possesses over 15 years of regulatory and compliance experience in both the government and commercial coverage spaces. Dr. Glenn has worked as a physician executive on both the provider as well as the payor side during his career and brings this unique experience with him to the RAC program. Prior to his work involving payment integrity he was a family medical physician in southeastern Pennsylvania, as well as a clinical instructor with the University of Pennsylvania School Medicine.
